The Big Adventure.
I did it. I had a successful solo exhibition??
I learned a lot about how art shows work outside of Art School on the way.
No one expects you to know how to do everything.
Good people will help you. If you’re not physically capable of hanging pictures straight they will help you to do that!
Blutac is just fine.
Sometimes when you put a painting on a plinth it’s just because it looks nice!
The hours of debate about plinths, for what???
After a lot of work it was finally here. All these things that I made with my own two hands.
There was an opening on the 15th of June, and people came! Lots of people came. It was one of those times in life when you realise you’ve collected a top notch group of friends.
Over the three weeks I got to meet some very nice people, everyone was always happy to share a story or tell you about a relative who makes art. Some people laughed and some people pretended to be very interested when it clearly wasn’t their thing. It’s always a pleasure to see kids come in and very sincerely read through a zine like their checking up on their Dow Jones stocks.
Today on the 29th of June i took the show down. I’ve done it now. Even if I never manage to again I had an exhibition, a solo exhibition. Not at university with training wheels on, a true blue real exhibition. And it went well.
I still hope I get the chance to have another show someday, or even better to work full time as an artist in some capacity. For today I’m an Artist, and tomorrow I have to go to work again.
